Castagneto del Monte Pincio

At the heart of the Montefeltro, the chestnut grove boasts centuries-old trees and is renowned throughout Italy for the quality of its marroni chestnuts.

The Castagneto di Monte Pincio lies in the Alta Valmarecchia, at the heart of the Montefeltro. This chestnut grove is highly renowned for the quality of its marroni, a prized variety included on the National List of Traditional Typical Products, grown from centuries-old trees. Every year, Talamello's historic centre hosts the Fiera delle Castagne.

Good to know

  • In October and November it's possible to go on excursions to pick chestnuts. Entry is free, but you pay for the chestnuts you collect.
  • The oldest part of the grove, the Castagneto Belloni, was planted in the 1500s and is one of the oldest in the area. Other trees have been planted more recently, bringing the total area to 20 hectares.
  • There are picnic areas inside the chestnut grove.
