Palio del Daino

The Palio del Daino is the best-known event in Mondaino. It is a historical re-enactment, but above all a horseback games contest held in Piazza Maggiore, the town's distinctive round square. Riders from four different districts take part, competing with swords to win the Palio. The re-enactment involves 300 costumed participants and combines the competition with themed food stalls and around a hundred craft stands where artisans demonstrate glass-working, leatherwork and much more, live.
