Perticara

Perticara is a hamlet of Novafeltria, known for having been home to a sulphur mine, the largest in Europe and one of the largest in the world.

Perticara is a hamlet of Novafeltria, known for having been home to a sulphur mine, the largest in Europe and one of the largest in the world. Although it closed in 1964, the village still carries a piece of that history, both through the presence of the Sulphur - Museo Storico Minerario di Perticara and through folk traditions that have never been lost.

Good to know

  • "Ferragosto a Perticara" is one of the town's most heartfelt festivals, created to honour the Santa Vergine di Cà Del Tozzo, protector of the miners.
  • In 1860 the Miners' Brass Band was founded, and it is still active today.
