Mausoleo di Teodorico
The Mausoleo di Teodorico in Ravenna was commissioned by Theodoric and built from 520 AD onwards, intended as his burial place. It consists of two superimposed tiers, both with a decagonal base, built from white Istrian stone. The dome above the structure contains twelve niches: eight bear the names of the Apostles, while the other four are dedicated to the Evangelists.

- The Mausoleo di Teodorico weighs 230 tonnes, is 3.09 m high and has a diameter of 10.76 m.
- On the upper floor is a porphyry basin, thought to have held the remains of Theodoric, at least until 561.
- The dome is a single piece, made outside Ravenna and transported here by sea.
