NatuRa - Museo di Scienze Naturali “Alfredo Brandolini”
The Museo di Scienze Naturali “Alfredo Brandolini” houses several entomological and ornithological collections. The most important was donated by Alfredo Brandolini in the early 1900s, evidence of the biodiversity of birdlife present in the Valli di Comacchio since the start of the last century.
NatuRa is located in the hamlet of Sant’Alberto, 17 km from Ravenna and close to the Parco del Delta del Po.
Good to know
- NatuRa is housed in the Palazzone, a historic brick building built in the first half of the 16th century as the “Hostaria del Duca di Ferrara”. It later became the home of the Ravenna-based Spreti family until 1885, then housing for local people until the mid-20th century. It was donated to the Comune di Ravenna in 1981.
- The museum is also the visitor centre for the Parco del Delta del Po - Stazione Pineta San Vitale e Pialasse di Ravenna. Many guided visits and excursions can be arranged in this area, on foot or by bike. An electric shuttle bus is also available (info: natura@atlantide.net - tel. +39 0544 528710).
- The museum has a collection of shells from the Adriatic Sea.
