Museo Naturalistico Parco Sasso Simone e Simoncello

Dioramas of animals in their natural habitats, mineral display cases and walks in the heart of the Parco Naturalistico Sasso Simone e Simoncello.

The Museo Naturalistico Parco Sasso Simone e Simoncello stands near the Parco Naturale Interregionale del Sasso Simone e Simoncello. The museum holds several sections: one reproduces animals in dioramas, in their natural habitats; others are devoted to geology (with display cases of minerals found in the park) and to finds collected during activities carried out by visitors (Museo del Presente).
Rounding out the offer are a library and Micromega Lab, a laboratory for exploring the links between the natural world and science.

  • Among the animals shown in dioramas are: porcupines, birds of prey, wildcats and foxes.

The Parco Regionale Sasso Simone e Simoncello lies in the Montefeltro. The area stretches from the Province of Pesaro-Urbino (Marche) to the Province of Rimini, taking in Pennabilli. It covers nearly 5,000 hectares of hills and mountains on the border with Tuscany. The most important peaks within the park are Monte Canale, Monte Palazzolo, Monte Carpegna, Sasso Simone and Sasso Simoncello. The highest point reaches 1,415 m above sea level.
