Museo Cielo Aperto - Parco della Cava

An area reclaimed from an old quarry and redeveloped to showcase the fossil-rich deposits of the Valmarecchia, with a huge number of fossils found here, including fish that today swim only in tropical seas.

The Museo Cielo Aperto - Parco della Cava stands in an area reclaimed from an old quarry in Poggio Torriana and redeveloped to showcase the fossil-rich deposits of the Valmarecchia. Extensive excavations have brought to light more than 2,000 specimens, some of them of marine origin despite living in the Marecchia river. There are fossils of fish that today swim only in tropical seas.

Accessibility statement

Romagna.net should be usable by anyone, with any tool: keyboard, screen reader, magnification, phone. This page says where we actually stand, without rounding up.

The site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. Conformance is partial: the checks made so far cover the code and the colours, and they do not replace testing with people who rely on assistive technology. Known limits are listed below.

How this statement was prepared

Self-assessment by the people who build the site, last updated on 1 September 2026. This is not the statement that the Italian AgID guidelines require of public bodies, which Romagna.net is not: it is a commitment we make anyway.
