Poggio Torriana
Poggio Torriana came into being in 2014, from the merger of two towns, Poggio Berni and Torriana. Poggio Berni, which houses the new town council, was a fief of the Malatesta, lords of Rimini; from that period Palazzo Marcosanti survives, a fifteenth-century building that was then a fortified farm. Torriana, for its part, keeps its Malatesta marks intact, such as the imposing fortress in the hamlet of Montebello, known as the "castle of Azzurrina", after the legend of the ghost of a little girl said to live within its walls to this day.
