Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta
Originally a Carolingian church, though its current appearance is Romanesque, it is one of the finest examples of medieval architecture in central Italy.
The Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta began as a Carolingian church, though its current appearance is Romanesque. Rebuilt around the year 1000, it is one of the finest examples of medieval architecture in central Italy. It is a massive structure, with three naves, three apses, and imposing walls of sandstone and various other stone. The six columns supporting the naves were made using reclaimed materials from the Roman and ancient periods, including four 4th-century Corinthian capitals.

- The Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta is the oldest religious monument both in San Leo and in the Montefeltro.
- The building was not only a place of worship but also an important civic and administrative site; meetings to discuss the problems of the people and the town were held here.
